As our Site Reliability Engineer within the newly created Media Services division of Rackspace, you will be part of an elite group of engineers providing near 100% uptime to major media companies who manage high volume websites for some of the most recognizable music artists in the world. As a key initiative spearheaded by our executives, you will join a startup operation with high visibility all the way up to our CEO.

Monitors and supports enterprise level customers via real time monitoring alerts, SMS Text alerts, ticketing system or warm hand off phone calls.
Provides advanced troubleshooting of LAMP- related open source technologies, Web-sites, systems, networks, and databases.
Maintains the health and optimization of the customers Web-site environment via predictive analysis trending.
Assists in production discipline (load testing, postmortem and documentation).
Serves as the primary contact for highly technical customer contacts in order to provide visibility during a crisis.
Required Knowledge / Skills:
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience across at least 4 of the 5 following disciplines within open source LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environments:
Programming/Coding – Experience with PHP, Perl, and Python scripting.
Database Administration – MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server
Systems Administration – Experience with Apache and Linux Operating System (BSD, CentOS, Solaris). RHCE (Redhat Certified Engineer) preferred, but not required.
Networking – Knowledge of load balancing and load test tools such as Gomez
Storage - Experience with Servers (EMC, Dell, Sun, HP), Networking and knowledge of SAN and DAS configurations.
Knowledge of Web site deployment using Content Management Systems (CMS) like Drupal, and Wordpress.
Knowledge of Web site monitoring tools and analytics such as Magento E-Commerce, Omniture.
Passionate about open source technologies and stays on top of new developments and trends.
A sense of urgency in responding to and resolving critical issues that relate to the performance of client sites and/or core infrastructure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An intolerance for not learning something new every day.
